Rob Honeycutt began Timbuk2 in San Francisco, California in 1989. The bicycle messenger wanted to make a bag that was sturdy but elegant enough to become marketable. He used a vintage sewing machine to make a tote different from the regular back pack. He is asked about these kinds of handlebar carriers by other people while he could be still doing work as a messenger. With a great investment of two hundred dollars, he purchases fabric and fasteners. He makes 60 bags and sells these to a local bike shop (Caltani, 2011). His company Scumbags or Timbuk2, as it is at the moment called, is born. Mr. Honeycutt met recent University of California for Berkeley graduate student Brennan Mulligan. The company is well known for producing high-quality custom and classic messenger carriers direct to customers buy. They have a staff of more than 20 hardworking staff of blades and sewers in their San Francisco plant. Through experimentation, Timbuk2 worked hard on becoming successful at producing these tailor made bags for folks.
